Abstract
In this chapter, Deysi García and Alexander Cordovés, who specialize in aspects of learning in Cuban university contexts, offer us critical reflections on methodological dialogues for the practice of science with life. They propose a systematization of research on/with young people, identifying achievements, possibilities and inadequacies as possible frameworks for other research. They combine Butler’s (Quadros de guerra: quando a vida é passível de luto?, 2015) perspective of framing, Bakhtin’s (Para uma filosofia do ato responsável, 2012 [1924]) participant thinking as an act of empathy, and Zanella’s (Entre galerias e museus: diálogos metodológicos no encontro da arte com a ciência e a vida, 2017) proposals to move from studies about youth to studies with youth to argue in favor of an ethical and dialogical position in the production of knowledge. They analyze their own practices of teaching and researching about Cuban young people to propose possible framings with young people. Thus, two lines of work stand out: teaching and research that assumes a historical understanding of development and that which creates conditions for studying development. Both find foundations in the Historical-Cultural approach proposed by Vygotsky.
